Ski & Snowboard Materials
We have all of the ski and snowboard materials you need to build your own boards! Skis and snowboards are a sandwich of materials, all held together with epoxy. The base of your board is a thin plastic material creatively called base material. Bonded around the outer edge of the base is a steel metal edge. A strip of rubber foil called VDS is placed above the edge. Next is the first structural facing, triaxial fiberglass. The fiberglass is saturated with the epoxy resin that bonds this whole sandwich together. Above the first facing is the core layer. The core layer is made up of a wood core that runs between the tip and tail and a more formable plastic called tip fill in the turned-up tips. Above the core layer is the second structural facing, another layer of triaxial fiberglass. Finally, a thin protective layer called topsheet completes the sandwich.
